On October 3rd 2024, TH Group organised a training for TH truemart Hanoi store managers and staff from R&D and marketing departments with knowledge about environment-friendly packaging and measures to reduce plastic packaging in the future. Currently, the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) has been in rollout, requiring manufacturers to prepare both financial and human resources with the necessary skills to manage post-consumer waste.
At the training, Mr. Nguyen Sy Linh – Head of the Department of Climate Change and Global Issues – Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE)/MONRE shared the current situation of plastic waste pollution and policy regulations on reducing the use of plastic waste in packaging, especially single-use plastic.
Mr. Nguyen Le Thang Long – Chairman of the Environment-Friendly Plastic Manufacturing Association (EPMA) presented different types of environment-friendly packaging, opportunities and challenges when using alternative packages. In addition, TH truemart store managers were instructed on how to distinguish the types of environmentally friendly plastic including TH products (shopping bags, yogurt spoons, straws, etc.).
Marketing Planning Manager of THFC, Mr. Nguyen The Phuong, shared initiatives and efforts in reducing plastic over the years under sustainable development strategy of TH Group. In addition, he announced a new type of canvas-hemp mixture bag that the TH truemart shops will use and provided environmental communications for consumers.
At the end of the program, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang – Manager of TH truemart in the Northern region proposed to set up new KPIs for staff on customers consulting processes and a roadmap for converting packaging into environmentally friendly products.
The training provided TH truemart store managers with useful knowledge about environmentally friendly packaging. As such, they will function as a bridging point to inspire green consumption and reduce the use of plastic bags.
