Research on “The willingness of Danang businesses to contribute to the Vietnam Nature Conservation Fund”
According to the study, based on the results of the consultations from more than 220 businesses and in-depth interviews with 20 enterprises showed that:
- 98% of enterprises consider environmental protection as important and very important.
- 80% of businesses are interested in and want more information about 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
However, the survey also revealed three main obstacles limiting business participation in biodiversity conservation including:
- 56% of them said that the reasons for not funding are lack of finance,
- 49% supposed that due to lack of trust
- 79% think there is a lack of information on conservation (no information or difficult to access information, yes but not up to date, poor, not interested).
Thus, the reasons given by most enterprises are lack of information on conservation or unattractive information, followed by lack of funding, and finally lack of trust. Therefore, it is necessary to further strengthen communication activities on biodiversity conservation for businesses, helping them to see that this is a win-win cooperation for businesses, the environment, the community, and the entire society.
This study was conducted by GreenViet through the EU-funded “Conservation Fund” project. VB4E is currently a partner with GreenViet and GSI to implement the Small Grant Program in this project for CSOs and businesses related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
