GreenViet and GSI through the EU-funded-project “Establishing a funding foundation for biodiversity protection and environmental sustainability in Da Nang City, Vietnam” has collaborated with VB4E to call for the application of small grants on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in the Central of Viet Nam. VB4E is the partner of the project to provide technical advice for application screening, M&E and promote business participation in this process.
After thoroughly reviewing all applicants, VB4E, GreenViet and GSI have selected the top 4 proposals. Three out of 4 selected proposals involved the participation and contribution of businesses. They are:
Legal entity group:
1. Establishing Zero Waste Community in An Hai Bac ward, Danang based on the community garden in Morrison street (around EUR20,000): C&E is the main applicant with VNWA, Tram Eco and other businesses such as Mud Bistro which will direct 16% of its net income to the project and the Lotus Collective which establish a modular community space, host classes and manage events to promote the garden and its mission.
2. Strengthen partnership in promoting the development of ecological public space models in Hue City (including extended areas) (around EUR20,000): CCRD is the main applicant with Think Play Ground (a social enterprise) and Hue Women Union.
Non-legal entity group:
3. Piloting biodiversity conservation in West Truong Son through the implementation of the forest garden model in coffee farming (around EUR 5000): Coffee collaboration group Xary 2 is the main applicant with PUN coffee Vietnam Co.Ltd.
4. Promoting the experiential learning activities in environmental education at secondary schools in Da Nang city (around EUR 5000): DIM Club is the main applicant with Building Up Sustainability Centre (BUS).
Round 2 of Small Grant will be announced in 2022, with the expectation for more participation from the business sector.
